It is our great pleasure to invite you to take part to the 10th edition of the Workshop on Plasmonics, nano-optics and its Applications, "PLASMONICA 2024", to be held on July 10-12, 2024 in Messina, Italy.
PLASMONICA is the annual national workshop organized by the working group ‘Plasmonics and nano-optics’ of the Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF),
a national branch of the European Optical Society (EOS).
Since its first edition in 2013 , PLASMONICA has averaged about 100 participants per year. It is a lively environment that gathers the active research in Italy and around the world in the fields of plasmonics and nano-optics. This year’s edition will take place in Messina thanks to the synergy between the Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences (MIFT) University of Messina and the Institute of Chemical Physical Processes (IPCF) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR).

How to reach the Papardo Campus
From Messina central station, Piazza della Repubblica to University of Messina - Papardo campus.
Bus:
From Messina Central Station walk 3 min to Cavallotti (See the map alongside).
Catch the BUS line 24 or 32
Tram + Bus:
Go to the tram stop located in Piazza della Repubblica and catch the tram towards "Terminal Museo". Check here the timetable.

Travel
Messina can be reached through the airports located in Catania, Reggio Calabria and Palermo.
• Catania Airport: directly linked to Messina with buses of the company Sais Autolinee (1h45).
• Reggio Calabria Airport: take the shuttle bus to Reggio harbour and from there reach Messina by hydrofoil (Reggio Calabria - Messina) (35min). Here the timetable.
• Palermo Airport: take a bus to Palermo Central Station, then you have direct connections to Messina either by train (Trenitalia) or by bus (Sais Autolinee - 2h45).
You can reach the "Messina Centrale" Station by railway. See the Trenitalia website for trip planning.
Alternatively you can first reach Villa S. Giovanni (RC) by train (Trenitalia for trip planning) and then Messina by hydrofoil (Villa S. Giovanni - Messina) (25min). Here the timetable.
You can reach Messina by car:
From Catania (100 km): take the motorway A18 Catania-Messina exit at Messina Boccetta.
From Palermo (230 km): take the motorway A20 Palermo-Messina exit at Messina Boccetta.
From Cosenza (190 km): take the motorway A2 Salerno-Reggio Calabria exit at Villa S. Giovanni. Ferryboat connection to Messina is every 40 min. Check here the timetable.

The areas of Papardo, Sperone, Pace, Sant'Agata, Ganzirri and Torre Faro in the northern part of Messina are the closest ones to the conference venue. They are well served by public transportation: Lines N° 1 - 24 - 31 - 32 . After midnight the connection between Torre Faro and the city center is guaranteed by the night bus (each 30 min) 1N .
NB: Social dinner will take place in the area of Torre Faro.
Submission
To apply for a presentation, please use a single-page abstract. The deadline for submission was May 5th, 2024

The abstract must be a single document in Portable Document Format (pdf) with a file size not exceeding 10 MB.
Registration
- The conference fee includes access to all the conference sessions (oral, posters), coffee breaks, and the lunch break on Thursday.
- The registration fee for non-member also includes one-year subscription to The Italian Society of Optics and Photonics (SIOF) , which amongs many other things includes
