Announcements

PLASMONICA is the annual national workshop organized by the working group “Plasmonics and nano-optics” of the Italian Society for Optics and Photonics (SIOF), a national branch of the European Optical Society (EOS). Since its first edition in 2013, PLASMONICA has averaged about 100 participants per year. It is a lively environment that gathers the active research in Italy and around the world in the fields of plasmonics and nano-optics. This year's edition will take place in Pisa thanks to the synergy between the Università di Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore, and Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.

It is our great pleasure to announce the 12th edition of the Workshop on Plasmonics, nano-optics and its applications, “PLASMONICA 2026”, to be held on July 8-10, 2026 in Pisa, Italy.

Special Session and Awards

The program this year will feature a special session dedicated to professor Alessandro Belardini. Alessandro was a dedicated mentor and group leader, and a brilliant researcher in the field of chiro-optical effects in plasmonics and nanostructures. Alessandro was an active member of the SIOF community; he was elected president and a strong supporter of the activity of the Plasmonica working group within SIOF, always encouraging early-stage researchers.

We will be awarding two prizes dedicated to Alessandro’s memory, for the best talk and the best poster contribution at PLASMONICA 2026. These prizes are reserved for early-stage researchers.
